Whose party is it anyway?

I went to a wedding or was it a child’s birthday party? I kinda got confused the phone call I received was an invitation to a 4 year old birthday. Upon arrival, I asked myself did I misunderstand is this really a wedding?
What’s with some Ethio parents giving their children a birthday party in an all out wedding style? If it’s a child’s birthday party then shouldn’t more children be invited? If it’s a child’s birthday party shouldn’t it start early instead of 4pm?
If it’s a child’s birthday party why are they serving alcohol? If it’s a child’s birthday party why are they inviting more adults who have no children? If it’s a child’s birthday party why are they serving kurte? If it’s a child’s birthday party why is there music for adult style dancing? If it’s a child’s birthday party then why is the ending time 1am? Continue reading ‘Yilijoch Gize!’

For those of you who are seeing this for the first time, in mid April we launched the Bernos Ethiopian Millennium Tshirts. We made 100 Tshirt and with hours we sold 60% of the inventory. And all 100 sold in about 5 days!
As Meron said;
Due to the extremely high demand for the [ethio-milli] shirt…. we decided to restock the Bernos Ethiopian Millennium T-shirt.
Thus, reproduction resumed and we are on sale again. As we have continuously told you that we are not in the “business of the masses,” restocked but not overstocked. We have tshirts available in all sizes for now. Although we appreciate and are enthused by the interest in Bernos products we do stress first come first serve as currently almost all of our concepts are sold out.
We are artists!
We love the process of producing and presenting new concepts. The Bernos Photoshoots took a life of their own. Beshou has been taking the Bernos photos since day one and those of you that have seen our progress over the past year can tell the level of maturity in photographic quality.

For Beshou, these photoshoots are her art. She uses the Tshirt concepts as a guide to theme the presentation of the tshirts. Continue reading ‘Re-Loaded’

Growing up I was always afraid of the dark and I remember one night I was so scared because my sweet ehet decided to tell me they’re coming after me, but she didn’t say who they were. I imagined the leboch or geboch coming to take me away from my happy home.
What is a girl to do but run, more like I tippy toed with power into my parents bedroom and woke up my emaye, crying actually sobbing. She was startled and said, “wey, afer leblalesh men honshibegn?” I told her they were coming to get me and my sis saw them.
My mom was clearly upset and told me to get into bed with her. Oh how wonderful it was to be snuggled up against emaye the whole night and the bad people couldn’t touch me. Ohhhh and my poor sis was all alone in the bedroom, that’s what she gets. I wanted to say, nanananana mom will kick your butt but I fell fast asleep, like an infant. Continue reading ‘Anche Qil’

100 produced, 100 sold!

If there is one thing that puts a smile on all our faces it’s the mention of the phrase, “Sold Out!” To us the phrase is synonymous with a hit product. It marks a benchmark we set out to reach every time we introduce a new Bernos Tshirt concept.
Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we announce that Bernos Ethiopian Millennium T-shirts are sold out!!! This is particularly sweet since our goal was met in such a short time. Within 24 hours this concept was put up for retail, we sold approximately half of the stock.
Although we were positively enthused by the overwhelming response to the concept, we were prepared to handle the tremendous production of packaging shipping out such a large quantity of orders.
Our delight is not only by the purchase of the shirts, but also by the comments on the Bernos Blog, the Bernos Press & emails in which many of you expressed your satisfaction and gratitude when you received your [for some your first] Bernos Tshirt. Great feedback is the icing on the cake; we however would like to say thank you to each and every Bernos customer instead.
We always say theirs Bernos people and the rest; as Bernos customers are repeat customers.
We understand that it takes a lot for the rest to have faith to make an online transaction. We can’t make you trust us, what we can do is show you that Bernos delivers.
Reprinting & Restocking
Is the most popular question! We have received an understatement countless emails requesting sizes we’re out of or asking when we will reprint or restock a particular Bernos Tshirt. This has especially stressed with Desta Keremela and Addis Ababa Classic concepts and even with the Bernos Ethiopian Millennium Tshirt before we started selling.
Nolawi had once un-carefully phrased it,
We are not in the ‘business of the masses!’” Continue reading ‘Sold Out!’
