The United States Population Fund organized a painting party of sorts in the middle of Meskel Square.

UNFPA who has been in the cutting age of raising awareness for health, came up with the “Stop Early Marriage” campaign and asked 30 Ethiopian painters to gather together and paint on the largest canvas ever painted in Ethiopian history.

An astounding 100 meters canvas by 30 people, phew! That is as big as some official soccer fields. Continue reading ’100 meter canvas’

An Obama Minute 104 Comments

obama

A few weeks ago I got an email from Denver asking me if I could modify an Obama poster to have the “yes we can” motto in Amharic feedels. Thus I did and sent it back.

Last week I get the same poster that I modified in an email from someone I know in Atlanta who happens to be in a group called Ethiopians for America, and then I got the same poster with modifications from someone else in DC. Continue reading ‘An Obama Minute’

I also abhor text messages, I don’t return them. If you want to send me a message, send it to me in email or if it’s urgent call me. I never ever receive letters, well maybe never is an exaggeration, but it seems accurate enough; as I perhaps receive less than a handful of real letters annually.

Conceivably I need to explain what a letter in my definition is; it is one that is addressed to me and only me. A real letter is not automated through a database. The seal of the envelope has to get licked by someone’s tongue. Thus a real letter must involve a Miraq. Continue reading ‘a real letter’

Patriotism, a blanket for white resentment 17 Comments

What MLK would say to JW?

MLK and Wright

Most of you have heard the recent controversy of the so labeled racist Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who according to the mainstream media made some incendiary remarks that are construed as racist and unpatriotic.

Context

I for one didn’t see anything erroneous with the snippets taken out of context. First, the remarks in context are not as inflammatory as the mainstream media made them to appear to be; and thus has been widely proven after the controversy died down.
