well it just has those pics so far cuz its the first day… but i assume she updates is frequently….

  11. 11 Getu

I dont know. I may have missed the boat on this one.
I never got how it is that photography became art. Beshou’s pics, the ones I saw, did not make things clearer. I’d like someone to put in honest words why they think photography is art.

  12. 12 masinkomelody

Getu, art is the expression and production of what one thinks is beautiful and is captivated by in this world. Therefore, photography is one of many art mediums through which a person captures and communicates to others the beauty they identify with.

One think I love about her is that when you work or talk to Beshou about photography you can tell she is so passionate about what she does. I think Beshou’s work is amazing and she knows how to work that camera. Keep up the good work!

  14. 14 beshou

awww, thanks for the love guys. It really means a lot!!
And celeb, masinkomelody nailed the definition of my name :)

getu, in addition to what masinkomelody said, it’s all about perspective. of course, i dont expect everyone to understand the techinal aspect of each and every frame…but if i’m able to tell a story through an image, be it in black and white or color, then i think i’ve done what i set out to do.

dawitk, thank you for those kind words :)

  15. 15 Alpha

gudu…..what the hell or who the hell are you talking about???

and as for your 1000% sureness….ummmm I think you might have to eat that up…:-)

  16. 16 Alpha

ante gudu….gudu yefelabeh lij neh bakeh?

first of all, my first comment was about your

She looks okay. It is going to be hard to for her to make it as a singer. If I were her, I would just stick with my education

Then….most ppl refer to Abesha as in Eritrean and Ethiopian….not just Amhara and/or Tigre

  17. 17 Sky

Gudu, Sorry to burst your bubble but check the definition of Habesha from Wikipedia, here it is,

“Semitic group of people whose cultural, linguistic, and in certain cases, ancestral origins trace back to the tribes of the Axumite(Habasha) and the Pre-Islamic South Arabian Kingdoms. Today they include the Amhara and Tigray-Tigrinya ethnic groups of Ethiopia and Eritrea who are predominantly Orthodox Christians.”

It seems like some people just don’t understand how to communicate respectfully…and as mentioned in other post we at bernos reserve the right to delete any comment that is deemed inappropriate.

No explanation for such action is required!

  19. 19 Alpha

    oh….ummmm deleted mine too

    Hey Beshuye,

It’s your girl Kiddy. Its been a minute,,,aydel? Anyhow, I simply wanted to say “Great Job”. I like what you doing.

    God Bless!

  21. 21 beshou

    Hey Kiddiye,

I know it’s been a while. Thank you for those kind words. Keep coming back for more and I hope to hear from you soon.

  22. 22 yesewneger

    Beshu,

You have done a great job. Keep it up. But, I believe you guys could be more creative on the background atmosphere as well as your model pauses., make it more Abeshawi!

  23. 23 beshou

    Thanks yesewneger.
As far as making the pictures better, are you talking about the bernos photo shoots? If so, the shirts usually speak for themselves but we also try to bring a little western flavor to it. As you can see in our last shoot, we tried to make it more of a market setting, reminiscent of traditional african markets with a ferenj twist to it. We are open to suggestions and change, so we will keep your comment in mind :)

It never fails to put a smile on my face. By no means am I trying to patronize Yesewneger, in fact I don’t even know from what angle that remark is emerging from and he/she might have a valuable input in that regard. My comment is just to the familiarity of the highlighted remark. It is just that I have always wondered why we, most Ethiopians, feel that any tweak of change, or added flavor of anything ‘western’ somehow threatens our manenet or is somehow seen as a betrayal of who we are or seen as defiance of our culture. Could it be? Is that part of the whys we find ourselves having difficulty to move forward? I am not making a mountain out of teensy hills… it just that that particular remark evoked a familiar question in me that is all. Carry on…

i wish you were my cousin so that i could learn a thing or two!

  26. 26 Yekey Dama

    Abo arif yehon neber
I must say though, I have learned that sometimes blood is just a thick composition and it can get sticky. That said, you don’t need the ties of blood to learn from one another, all it requires is to sweep the attic of our mind free of clutters that can interfere with a free flow of exchange ;)

  27. 27 yesewneger

    weyi gud Keyo,

I just believe in our originality. We all are different than any other western nation. All I am saying is let’s keep our original back ground b/s it so different, that even the western couldn’t get over it when the experience our culture and we should be proud of it, ena ahunim, this people are doing an incredible work but it was just a comment to keep us where we came from.

habesha means mixed….according to some sources…
(we have such a racialized identity…u guys ever thought of that?)
    ethiopia means burntface…habesha means mixed.

  31. 31 bgFelasfit

alright…before i put my foot in my mouth…i repeat: the meaning of the word is disputed… as is the case for most issues of identity since they are usually politicized as well…

  32. 32 beshou

    hey bgfelasfit, thank you !!
as far as bernos aperture is concerned, i think that was nolawi’s (the other one) project. it’s comin along :)
