I along with Meron was 1 of the 100,000 estimated crowd (large image) that gathered to see Barack Obama on Election Eve in Manassas VA.
People from all walks of life where there, including many Ethiopians; it was a site to see and experience that words can’t explain.
We were all “Fired Up and Ready To Go” for Tuesday, November 04, 2008.
He said, 21 hours Virginia, in 21 hours we will change the world. And indeed we delivered Virginia.

Yes we can!! Yes we did!!
I wish I had been there. My biggest regret in this election is that I did not give enough money to the campaign. I wish I had given more moeny than I have. And I wish I was a citizen so I could have voted. But I guess the hope is still alive. I will vote for his reelection, God willing of course. Long live OBAMA NATION!
I’m still in awe, and still getting chills
Peep this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pVSZyVXjfxk
Oddly enough, America is apparently not ready for “too much change,” since the same folks that voted for Obama also voted Yes on Proposition 8.
I like the video toothpick. Wonderful job!
I wept like a child when he won. What an execptional (not perfect )man he is. I believe he will be a great president… at the very least he will try his best….. I don’t envy him for a second tho. He is inheriting a shit load of problems.
Toothpick – cool video
i was there with almost all family members at the Manassas rally too. it was a moving and historic moment to see the crowd and Obama on stage.
But nothing compares to the feeling next day, after he was elected as the 44th president. his acceptance speech and the crowd reaction at Chicago park is a moment to remember for years to come. it is simply AWESOME.
toothpick, nice video
TP…perfect clip…wow
Where are the Bernos active BO supporters like Mike and the rest…Congrads guys. celebration is over now time to get back to real work… if you forget.
(baby, fyi, not only are non-citizens not allowed to vote, but also they are not to contribute money. If you contributed online, you were asked if you are a citizen. If you contributed off-line in increments of under $20, I know its no question asked… but still just know its illegal. thats all. )

Anonx, is that so? I had no idea. I contributed online, but it did not ask me anything about citizenship. But thanks for the heads up. I didn’t know what else to do other than give money. But I feel like I should be given the right to vote even though I am not a citizen. I live here, I go to school, and I pay taxes. Everything that happens in this country affects me too. It’s almost like taxation without representation. I know that ther are people like congressman that do represent my district, but I do not choose them.
How many of you are feeling this way???
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_95F5e-Ac
It is so true… right..??
I don’t know Baby, but I’ll join you if you wanna reinact the Boston tea party. Citizenship is a requirement, no way out of it ’till world citizenship comes into effect. Consider yourself lucky untill then that they allow you to work because somewhere in the world, its impossible… let along to vote.
Its gonna be a fun and interesting 4 or 8 years though. Let the fun start, I am willing to wager that South Africa will be the first country President Obama will visit … any takers? And its gonna happen this coming summer
Why South Africa Annox? I was hoping it would be Ethiopia…..a girl can dream, right? But belive me, I know I’m so blesed to be in America. This country has become so much more than I expected. I love America. And now, althogh I’m gonna miss the election season dearly, I’m so excited about what’s gonna come next. If I’m lucky enough to get my citizenship in the next two years, I will be honored cast my vote for the reelection of Obama. Let’s just hope all goes well.
P.S. a reinactment of the Boston Tea Party sounds fun.
thanks for that video tp – i cried a lil
Anonx and baby,
You don’t have to be US citizen to contribute. You can be a legal resident (green card)and contribute. I have asked and I have seen that on one of the receipts for contribution.
Nevermind me Baby. I take Selam’s word on this. Solly!

Considering , andrew jackson , the one already on th bill was responsible for atrocities.
spacefog, don’t you think that call is a little too early? we would have to wait and see what kind of president he will be. Whatever your opinion is about Andrew Jackson, that should not be the standard for who should replace him because obviously the standard is too low (being responsible for atrocities).
Baby,
I do not think it’s too early. I think the biggest achivements of Obama will remain to be his being the first black man to hold the most powerful position in the world. Plus , replacing Andrew JAckson is not a new idea. There has been a movement to change it with MLK’s image but has not succeded yet.
This is for the bernos trio headed by Nolawi. For a group of wannabe enlightened biz ppl who sale on the name of Africa, shamelessly, I think there is a noticeable lack of African issues discussed. Also, no attempts are made to talk about African current affairs.
Just my opinion….

howdy, great blog.
Hey, I understand this is perhaps quite unexpected to read, but your blog inspires me to get through my day, when my boss is shouting at me every single waking minute! A bunch of my friends told me about it but I did not find it for quite a while, so a few days ago I was very happy to finally find it! Myself, I don’t do much blogging because I simply don’t have the time but I do admire other people’s work. I just wanted to comment to show my admiration for your posts and I also wanted to let you know that so many authors don’t get any credit for their craft, credit that is, surely well deserved. Given the topic you might not believe it and perhaps doubt that anyone could like it so much, but I truly want you to continue as you began. It’s great!
I’m pleased for this beneficial excellent page; this is a form of subject that sustains me although out the day. We’ve normally heard been lately wanting near to in your web-site right immediately after
