Wow. Obama is one of a kind. I am a big fan of his. I have my reservations about him, but overall he is a fine human being with a gift that is awesomely unique.

he is what i call a “Trailblazer”.

I think he is “Ready To Go”.

If only foreign aliens like me were allowed to vote for him I would have in a heartbeat, congratulations to everyone who did…we caught the Obama fever here too too bad we arent allowed to vote for him as aliens but we can cheer and chant for him very loudly so here is my contribution …

From a besotted foreign alien Obama supporter

Maybe, she thought it was a term (sexual or not) you coined up on Bernos like ‘ethiofused’ and didn’t want to entrap herself into a jargonian complex.

  9. 9 lemat

I am a big fan of Obama. It was my 1st time voting and so proud that my 1st vote goes to black person. “Unforgettable”
Yes Fired up, ready to go….

  10. 10 Dr. Ethiopia

So does that mean blacks vote blindly? Is that something we want to be known for? Blacks are voting for Barack in scary numbers. Even he seems to sense that.

I would disagree with some of my friends here who support the idea of the white house being called “the black house”, even if it’s for entertainment purposes. Are we going to justify bad action with another bad action?

In any case, Barack lacks a lot of substance, at least so far. And for anyone who fails to see that i would say his charm has blinded you beautifully.

It is about time that someone i support, like Obama, to deliver the knock-out punch and talk about the I-S-S-U-E-S.

Great speeches are nice and he had mastered the speech thing very well.

LISTEN, If Barack start talking about what matters to blue-collar Americans in a specific detail, mark my words, HE WILL LOSE – Ohio and Texas and Pennsylvania.

Hey Barack you won my heart i am just longing for you to win my mind tooooooo.

Is that too much to ask?

  11. 11 Dinich

    Dr Ethiopia,

The black house….you said it….is just entertainment.

  12. 12 Mamitu

    Dr. ETHIOPIA,

If you are genuinely looking to be inspired, I ask you to go and see the Obama for America web site to see where Obama stands on issues. Mrs. Clinton and Obama have similar views on a lot of things and they should they are both democrats. They have some differences but the major difference between the two candidates when it comes to issues is Health insurance, limiting the influence of Lobbyists and judgment on war on Iraq.

Obama wants health insurance for kids to be mandated (Medicaid takes care of low income kids anyway). But for adults he wants to give incentives for people to buy health insurance by reducing the cost where as Mrs. Clinton wants to mandate health insurance for every one where money will be taken off your income to pay for it whether or not you want it or afford it. So, if someone makes 7 dollars an hour tough luck they will have to buy into the Universal health plan according to Mrs. Clinton.

On Lobbyists, Obama doesn’t take money from them so that they will not try to have undue influence on his administration. He gets his money from ordinary citizens like me who give him not a lot of money but in great numbers to keep him competitive. Where as Mrs. Clinton has taken and is taking money from lobbyists and has even defended the Lobbyists saying they represent real people in one of the debates a few months back.

And on the war, Obama displayed good judgment to oppose it when it was fashionable to push for it and even as Mrs. Clinton was voting to give Bush the authorization to go to war in Iraq.

But the major difference of the two comes in the way they can connect to people of all walks in life, people who are going to be deciding who is going to be president come November. Obama not only connects with people but also inspires them. He also comes with less baggage. Mrs. Clinton has a big load called Bill she is carrying around and don’t think that people have forgotten “I have not had sexual relationships with that woman Monica Lewinsky”. And I do not know why any self respecting woman would want to vote for her too, as she is showing to stick it out no matter how many times a man disrespects his wife by cheating on her over and over again. She has high negatives and would definitely not win the general election specially against a maverick like John McCain who is appealing to independents while at the same time she energizes the conservatives to cast a vote against her and Bill.

Here is a connection to Obama’s ECONOMIC SUBSTANCE. There is more substance where this came from look around and BE INSPIRED.

Mamitu…Afe Quret Yibel!! Just what I wanted to say but couldn’t due to a busy day at Sira bota.. I would not have said it as well as you did anyway so, glad I waited. Very well said and to the point. U go girl!!

  14. 14 Sara

    Mamitu,
I’m all for Obama and would love it if he got elected, However to add Bill’s infidelity as an argument against her…c’mon now!!! Husband and wifes go through a lot and one of it is cheating and depending on the kind of person you are, you can forgive or not…To each it’s own

And I do not know why any self respecting woman would want to vote for her too, as she is showing to stick it out no matter how many times a man disrespects his wife by cheating on her over and over again.

Ere please let us not judge her by her personal/sexual life

  15. 15 Hidaya

    Mamitu well said.

Sara, Hillary Clinton is a public figure, by virtue of the role she has chosen quite actively in life she will scrutinised fairly or unfairly.

What is chilling about her is that not her husband was unfaithful to her several times and that she stayed with him regardless, but the widespread suggestion that she tolerated it not because she loved him which I think people are willing to understand and empathise with to a degree, but because her political destiny is intertwined with her husband and she wanted to be President one day after he was done with it and even went as far as to act as unnoficial co-President on her husband’s first term.

However fair or unfair that suggestion is it makes her look pretty cold and calculating. The other stuff she did on this election to Obama to score political points and gain votes on the back of it makes her look even more calculating this time in a sinister way Machavellian way, patronising too thinking people wont notice. The little tear she almost shed when she was worried about votes and Obama make her look manipulative and remind people that she didnt do that on one other famous occassion where it would have been more understood and maybe warranted.

And whatever we say about electing leaders for their policies we also elect leaders for the personal qualities that we feel they have in addition to their policies. Some like her husband have plenty of charisma that can dazzle for a while regardless of what he does, unfortunetly not she, she is blessed with charisma. I do admire her though, she was one of the best lawyers of her time and could be a good President I feel, alas I like Obama more even if I cant vote for either..

Ere please let us not judge her by her personal/sexual life

  16. 16 and sew

I am kind of new for this blog. I think this is my first time to give my opinion. When it comes obama I do admire and respect him, but I already makes my mind to vote for Hillary. For the most part they both have the same agenda, except health care and the war. I do not understand Obama when he says I was against the war form the beginning, of course he wasn’t a senator when they cast vote for it, it is hard for me to believe him when he said he would vote against it even he was a senator don’t buy that, and I don’t want to play the guessing game. About health care no matter what we hard working workers cover the bill (who pay for emergencies room treatments) we might as well pay for it before the person become to sick and cost as more money

  17. 17 Mamitu

    and sew,

You are supporting Mrs. Clinton because she is an open book per se, good for you. You are right about Mrs. Clinton being an open book because the divisiveness and win at any cost personality that has been at play since Mr. Clinton ran for the presidency in 1991 has cost her the African American vote.

But I want you to remember when you support the Universal Health care system that inorder for it to be universal, wages of all people including the working class who make 7 dollars an hour or less will be garnished.

As for Obama not being an open book, he is an open book in the literal sense, all one has to do to know and understand the man is read “Dreams of my father” a book he wrote before he became a prominent public figure. One would read in that book how he rejected working in an elite law firm for over a $100,000.00 in order to work as a civil rights lawyer and organizer in the south side of Chicago for less than $30,000.

For me, this along many other things is why I support Obama.

  18. 18 lemat

    Dear and sew,

Hope Mamitu explain you very well. Don’t worry even though you missed the boat this time you can re-vote for him when he finishes his 1st term of 4 year’s presidency. Until then Stay Cool but don’t be freeze!!

  19. 19 Helen

I am a very cynical person. I do not trust politicians. I like Senator Obama. He gives me warm feelings when he talks about hope and the future. He is a great speaker but when I look deeper I don’t see any difference between him and Senator Clinton. Their plans are pretty similar, a little difference in their health care plan. Personally I think Clinton’s plan works a little better than his. Their voting record in the Senate is also nearly identical. Of course Obama was not in the senate when they voted for the war whether he would have voted for the war or not were he in office, I couldn’t say. He had said in one interview (New Yorker Magazine) if he had the benefit of the intelligence report like the senate did his vote might have been different – but his record since he got to the to the senate is nearly identical as Clinton’s.

I don’t understand the criticism of Hilary as someone who is ambitious and calculating when it comes to her career. Believe you me, nobody wakes up and decides to be a president. One had to plan and be calculating about it. So is Senator Obama. The marginalization of Obama by Hilary camp was part of the political race. It is unfortunate but that is how politics is nowadays. They are not really chosen on their merits, are they? It is all a beauty contest and it gets very ugly at times. Obama’s camp has also used sexist language on Hilary… “now the claws are coming out” how “she attacks periodically when she is feeling down” etc… Neither one of them are saints. Granted Hillary has more sins than Obama by far. I feel the contest is over now Obama will win the nomination. I hope all these people who have put their hopes and dreams wake up because even if he becomes the president, and I hope he does, I am afraid things will change very little for us working folks. As George Carlin says “this country has been bought and sold many times over and the shit they shuffle around every four years” means nothing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0u6lCBnRoHQ
    Just my 2 cents.

  20. 20 Dinich

Everybody keeps saying this campaign is not about race. But I really think it is. I understand if Obama says that for political reasons even though deep down he knows it is all about it.

I am not too naive to think having a black president will get rid of racism overnight but it is an important milestone in the fight against racism. It sends a strong signal to both blacks who feel inferior and whites who feel superior.

In terms of the other issues health care, economy etc…Obama or Clinton makes little or no difference.

  21. 21 Mamitu

    Dear Helen,

Ofcourse Obama is a politician, he is running to be president of the United States of America and not asking us to put him up for sainthood. But you have to agree that he is a breath of fresh air with his honesty and straightforwardness(I don’t know if that is a word). That puts him in complete contrast to Clinton who is well known for being divisive. Obama is the Reagan of the Democratic party, Reagan was the one who brought in a lot of fresh blood and revived the republican party for decades to a point where by people were voting against their pocket books in droves. Being a good president is not just about having the plans but about being willing to work accross the isle, being a leader and a visionary. And this is what sets Obama apart.

  22. 22 justme

ok guys everyone/everyting is all about OBAMA. I think i am up for his wife..Miss Obama. I think she is powerful lady..I would like to see her in white house.

  23. 23 Dinich

I agree, Justme, I saw her interview and she is as smart, articulate and Charismatic as the husband. They sound very much alike to me. I said to myself that he should use her a lot to swing some of the women’s vote….Her Larry King Iinterview was just phenomenal….

I think once Obama is done his term as a president, she should run for the office and do what the Clintons haven’t been able to do….
