Joshua 13 Comments

If I can count the number of times I’ve had a conversation with my Abesha friends of how we aspire to give back to our people back home in Addis and how it would be great to have an NGO or build a school etc…but when the opportunity arises to give back by sacrificing time or money they are no where to be found.

So it just amazes me when I hear the same lofty aspirations from the affluent folks claiming to make a difference one day but have no plans or measurable goals to fulfill these claims.

It’s time for a reality check!

As a word of caution “Don’t mistake talent for desire.”

Yes everyone has talents but not everyone is going to be a mover or shaker and make a major difference for their country, but everyone does have the ability to change at least the life of one person by giving back with their talents or by taking sometime of Action.

It’s impossible to attend every event but when the opportunity comes along like the ” A night of hope“ Joshua Youth Academy on 5 June at the Ethiopian Embassy I’m attending.

…..I agree! This looks like a great cause….I did hear about it from a friend and I am considering to attend. There is so much need sometimes it is overwhelming!

@ Tazabi: Yeah unfortunately there is an elite few that give back by sacrificing the time or the money for a good cause. The rest are just focused on their on wants and needs…

Great idea but unfortunately Ethiopia does not have Embassy in the USA.

I know I can’t change the life of everyone, but I can help a child beat the odds, and who knows, maybe that kid will be the next president or something (along those lines). I encourage everyone to come out and support this great cause! All of us can’t operate an orphanage, but together we can make a difference in the lives of these children!

Habesha women spend so much money on mani, pedi, hair, dress n shoes just to go out to clubs n men spend so much money on drinks on women they can’t even go home with but when it comes to giving back for a good cause, they talk about bills that needs to be paid. Some even have the nerve to say they need help themselves.
