I purchase many calling cards from your company online living in Durango, Colorado.
Last week or so I bought a SOLO AFRICA calling card which at some point of use promised me 18 minutes. I made a call and it didn’t go through so I redialed. The automated system said now I have 14 minutes and I was done talking to my South African contact when it ended at eight (8) minutes!
I feel cheated. Please give me my (many, many) minutes back. This cheating me of my minutes (money) went a little far. I bought two $5 calling cards today, but if I don’t hear a response I’ll reconsider doing business with you and I will share this story to friends and family, many who use your site.
Minutes disappear right in front of me and I can do nothing about it?! Do you think you can play games with people’s money assuming they are immigrants to the U.S. and they will do nothing about it? Think about it.
What is sad is this cheating your customers of minutes they PURCHASED happens often and I try to ignore it because customer service numbers often lead to nothing.
The SOLO AFRICA customer service number (877-800-2463), for instance, will never have anyone pick up. It just refers one back to your website.
Let’s see if I get a response to my comment from you and possibly a solution to our problem.

Try Nobel.com, I have had great experiences with them. I’ve had an account with them for a while that automatically recharges and they have great customer service. I use them to call back home regularly.
Also try downloading skype. They are great and if your contact on the other side does the same (anywhere in the world) you can talk for FREE!
I’d recommend you to use African beauty calling cards. They deliver 100% minutes annouced if used in a single call.
I have also experienced the same thing with the calling card SOLO from lycatel,
I used the SOLO card to call from Europe to Ethiopia. At first, its credit was about 68 minutes. After the 1st call for about 7 minutes, the call got disconnected, after redialing and its left over was something like 40 minutes. However, my conversation was for like 18 minutes and got disconnected because “I didn’t have enough credit”…..What a misery! I got pissed off, so I called the customer service, well after listening their boring music for like 3 minutes, Somebody picked up and couldn’t really help me since he couldn’t see the minutes used till the next working day. Again, I called the customer service and waited for about 7 minutes for someone to pick up their service line….The person claimed that I have called for 19 and 46 minutes…and my credits have been used fully for the “calls”. I couldn’t believe it! Here I have a display on my phone to see every single duration of my call. So I really don’t know what kind of counting mechanism the company’s computer has, but that is definitely a wrong one! I told them that I’m going to tell as many people as possible about their unfairness and write on the weblogs, they didn’t like it. But I don’t like people who earn money by fraud either!
I use calling cards regularly and I have yet to come across with a phone card that honors those minutes they tell me I have. It is pretty much the norm of the industry.
The other tricky part is the companies are not as many as the cards. When u switch from this card to that one chances are you are not switching because both cards are made by the same company. Few companies but lots of cards that pretend to be new…legal criminals….

Maybe you need to realize that if you go cheap you will end up paying for it one way or another. Bottom line is you get what you pay for. $5 doesn’t buy much these days – and it sure won’t buy you great customer service. It’s like going to MC D’s drive thru window and expecting a Ruth Chris fillet mignon. I don’t doubt that the time you spent writing the complaint letter is probably worth more than the $$ you lost on the cards. If I were you, I would call direct, write letters and in the process put the phone card companies out of biz. My poor parents didn’t listen to me and I doubt that you would either but know that in your misery of phone card roulette you are not alone!

Absolutely. Perminute charges, rates to eth at .269 per minute same as most cards would go. Clear n hassle free with no hidden charges. You can also check your account history online. Came across it a month back n m glad to know i can call home any time on my cell phone.

oh.. Calling Cards.. Where I do I begin, They are all the same. Whether it is a Solo or African beauty or Anything Africa.. It is all the same. I have a bad experience that I ended up using my home phone. When you call the Customer service, they are from India and they are like a machine. I am sorry Madam, what can i do for you. Please call back and you should get your mins back… but never I did..
I have given up and decided to use my home phone.
