Someone who I had a business meeting with told me that I shouldn’t sell myself short. It made me think about my sales pitch.
Recently there was news of a guy who was selling a Ponzi scheme which final accounting claims are said to be somewhere over in the 60 billion dollars. Bernard Madoff basically stole people money through his asset management company. I have been obsessing about the details because I was so impressed that he was able to get away with it for such a long time.
The sales pitch was his results, I assume. The results early investors saw and the fact that he was not willing to accept new investors unless they begged him or something to that extent.
And I was thinking, am I selling myself short or am I just making a sell on the business arrangement by encouraging him that I lack certain things that are not important to business at hand?
Or am I actually encouraging the business arrangement towards a certain different direction intentionally for my own benefit?
I was thinking the latter, but confidence sells. Just tell them you are capable because your mind is capable.

I dont understand the questions at the end either, but the refrence to Bernie Maddoff, it is not cuz his sales pitch is so great, its because it was deceptful and misleading. As a Top perfomer former sales rep and who trained many others, I was taught you sell yourself not the product. Once the customer buy “you” they will buy aything you have. So the result of his sucess is the fact he was untrust worthy, imoral, deceptive, incosiderate, and unethical individual who sold himself to the customers as the opposite and abused thier trust. He got away with it for so long because he chose a complicated market with little to none regulations. I wouldnt use the word “impressed”, its more so “disgusted”.
I am clueless as well. Nol, have you downgraded on quality but kept price the same on the Ts? Needless to say, nevertheless, we show you love… misplaced trust, Madoff style, I hope not….
Mr Madoff didnt get away with it though did he? he got found out in the end so how successful was his dishonest sales pitch even as a con man?, and he may have had confidence in his sales pitch but it was all based on calculated deciet, that he was good at it only means he was a good at having no integrity, decieving and manipulating the trust people placed in him…

lol! its about greed then? Didn’t read more than the headline on Madoff, I assume he got away for so long because the type of investment he transacted, ‘private market’ as oppose to public market(stocks, bonds) have a long investment horizon–means that people expect investment income in the next 10-20 years. If he was running his Ponzi Scheme with stocks and bonds, I think he would have been found out long time ago

Nol, inem I was beTam impressed…I mean,we should expect stricter audit and regulations after the Enron scandal,shouldn’t we?
Obviously, Name sells more than anything in America. And those investors had high regard for Madoff…at least they knew one fact…that he was very smart (Regardless of his dishonesty, it takes someone with a brain to carry out such neatly organized fraud and keep it undetected this long).
