It’s one of those things that you’ve been taught to say, but take for granted as you get old. I don’t mean to sound preachy or anything, but I’ve always been taught to say amen to anyone give me a burake. It doesn’t matter if the person is an elder or someone my age. Also, the simplest word of them all : Thank you.
It wasn’t long ago I went through my little ‘re-evaluate’ life phase and I was also re-assessing friendships as well. One day, I received a phone call from a friend. This person rarely calls and would rather send me text messages. I just accepted the fact that’s who this person is. I can’t change them and if that’s the way we communicate, then so be it.
But back to what i was saying. I pick up to hear this person say
Beshou, I just wanted to tell you are one of the few people that I truly value and thank you for your friendship.“
I can’t remember anything that was said before or after, but that sentence is forever etched in my memory. There is nothing better in this world, than to hear someone (be it a family member, or a friend) tell you that you are appreciated!
I think we need to give praises where it’s due. Bernos is made up of a lot of people. At one point, I believe there were about 6-7 of us, if any of you bothered to take a close look at the ‘about’ section. We love to recognize others who’ve helped get us to where we are now.
However, if it weren’t for this man’s flickering idea, or need for an outlet to let his creative juices flow, Bernos would not exist. Not only that, if it weren’t for him encouraging me, helping me put my photoblog together, my passion for photography would have remained in my close circle of friends. I would like to say : THANK YOU to NOLAWI.
THANK YOU for sharing your stories on the blog,
for giving an outlet to those creative minds out there,
for giving me a platform for my photography,
for taking care of those little technical details on Bernos that most of us have no clue about,
for creating the BERNOS PRESS, (it was great while it lasted)
for being you…i would add the nickname, but i might get shot for it

I’ll second that!
and add:
Thank you for being so dedicated to bernos. You inspire others to pursue what they truly wanna go for.
Bishu I too appreciate you … you grew into a lady right under our eyes… *snif snif* and excellent photos sista!

and thanks beshou for taking the time to let nolawi know he’s appreciated.
Nolawi you’re amazing ! I miss the press , yes it was great while it lasted ( to say the least ) .
Thank you Bernos for all the tolerance , creativity and for being a great team. You allowed all of us to be us and created a platform for all of us to come together.
Beshou,
Ok…I know this is about giving credit to Nol, i ‘d say a long overdue deserved credit….but I don’t understand what the picture has to do with it…
I am thinking out loud here….hmmmmm…ok…Nol is always fresh and green working hard…never gets tired….that kind of makes sense….What else? …hmmmmm ok here is another one: There is a man and a woman in the picture…so the man is Nol…who is the girl? …and their union is fresh and green….etc…
Thanks besh…
the photo doesn’t mean anything.. its just kool bery kool!
Lets all take responsibility for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. We are always so willing to tell everyone what a proud country we come from. Our people are going hungry again. I think we should all feel a special responsibility as long as we call our self Ethiopian. If any one knows an Ethiopian NGO we can all work with please share.
Yeah Dinich, I was confused a bout the picture too! I thought it was about this new and bery irritating trend back home… this new obsession with english in amharic, whatever it can be called.

copy and paste then highlight then click on the B-Quote which is about the comment box…
That’s admirable Jrdink! I wish you all the best with that…Unfortunately, no extra information in Eddu than you have right now. this is my first time hearing about it.
Aha so true! “Burger queen”, “Texas dabo bet”, “Atlana buna bet” it drove me crazy when I was in Addis

thanks for the help…we still haven’t found it, but i might just have to go and figure it out on the ground. we’re putting things in place right now to leave the 1st week in august and be on the ground initially 21+ days. there’s always a little bit of a financial piece to work out before i go. if anyone knows where exactly this village (Eddu) is…I’d love to know. thanks again everybody!
