Derrick Ashlong aka DNA is a musician, public speaker, Harvard grad, immigrant from Ghana and an American; supporter of Obama! His interview was a big hit on you tube over 1.3 million views. See the videos.
Our own dotmike wrote an article on Dailykos about being fired up and the grassroots work making Phone Calls as part of Ethiopians for Obama and almost 700 comments.

I don’t want to blow my own horn se but I am a supporter. I also think Obama is good as a fashion statement. Other people that are wearable include, Marley, X, Gandhi, Dalai Lama, and many more… but not that many. Let me know what that says about him.
Sorry about the messy hair but this is the only picture I have of my Obama Tee. You can find this tshirt at print liberation; fellow tshirt designers.

Derrick’s videos are right on point – so impromptu, well-informed and energetic. he’s so freaking charismatic too! luv it.
For me, the Best thing about obama (kinda related to the title of this blog post) is his deep and probing reflections on identity and race. i would Urge anyone mildly interested in or baffled by the energy of the obama campaign to check out “Dreams from my Father”, first published in 1995 way before any whispers about the presidency… (ny times bestseller, winner of grammy for audio book)
i was blown away by the depth and wisdom in obama’s ideas on identity, his frankness and humanity in sharing his personal experiences and his ability to keep pushing forward with ideas, instead of getting tangled up in the trappings of bitterness…overall, the book is a must-read!
nolawi, zeeee hair…i scrolled down the first time and thought ‘who’s zee heck this CHEbrara girl giggling away on the fone?’ sike! lol
I am a BIG Obama supporter too.
does anybody know where i can find obama t-shirts for less than $30?
Amerobinal Bakih?:)
Why not do a Bernos tee with an Obama theme, if you haven´t done so yet?
Do we really need a president? Sorry being off the topic here. The congress and the senators are running the country anyways. Please, wake me up when it’s over.
Grandma,
That is because America right now doesn’t have a president that can inspire the congress and the senate….
there is ta link at the bootom of the post.. i bought this tee for 20 bugs
it feels so great to hear immigrants like Derrick articulate their views openly. obama’s support base is not limited to just immigrants or just blacks only. it covers all gamut and spectrum of the american communities… whites, blacks, latinos, young old, etc.
supporting obama is not a ‘hype’ or ‘fad’ like some in the media try to portray it at the beginning of the primaries. the mainstream media was saying things like “ohh the american public is not ready for a black president” and they were busy spreading other disparaging comments to dampen the political atmosphere. however, as time goes on, the support obama is getting has become so real and is hapenning right infront of their eyes. now that they know that he is for real and the support he is getting is widespread, they have no choice but to deal with him as a potential and even possible next president. for the first time in so many years, people who are fade up with the status quo are going to make a difference.
oooof, I wanna hear that guy speak again and again!
hm. thanks, nolawi. that visual of you blowing your own horse just wrecked my day. your smorgasbord of equine fantasies should, i believe, be kept to yourself. but that’s just me.
i think you meant “horn” …
LMAO @ TP!
He is so charismatic, I am just in love with him…He is so articulate, I actually get his point.
Look up his interview with ABC….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MFX5HEZpK9o
Thank u Nolawi for blogging about him…A great guy, a great post.
OMG .ende we don’t have to know every bit of your tween the sheets tidbits eqo lol just kidding .A big typo there correct it ASAP.
He definitely not raddled by an intimidating style of questions thrown by the reporter and made it clear that there’s no emotion involved with being a black and Obama supporter. His speech on the 2nd video is more relevant to why we have to go out and vote using our constitutional right as a naturalized citizen. I think we’re a step ahead of that at this point.
A good note but a small reminder. ” I don’t want to blow my own horse …” should be ” I don’t want to blow my own horn ….”
Thanks
mts stay on topic dudes and dudetter… yes I meant horn… i typed I think Horn but somehow it came ax horse…
its a typo… thank for fixing…
Uncle B He is addressing the entire youngsters of the US, not just us immigrants…
wow, I like this DNA guy. He’s a great speaker, furthermore he makes a lot of sense….
