AIDS Campagn in addis

I was working on a Billboard sign with the most extreme analogy. The more intrusive and interactive the concept the more likely the audience will view it.

I was in awe when I saw the first saw the original Ipod campaign —the silhouette with headphones. Apple outdid themselves with the Bill gates Vs Cool Dude campaign.  It shows how really sophisticated marketing are effective.

An Ethiopian client of mine asked me to do a poster layout to be used only in Addis Ababa. I did and he was like ‘are you crazy, people will be outraged!

And so I started to look at marketing collaterals used in Ethiopia. What I found was that the ads are very interactive. Some of the concepts are amazing and seem very effective; more so Ethiopian business owners here in the US.

Wow, that AIDS billboard is probably the most effective one I have ever seen. Very clever! To be a devil’s advocate though, shouldn’t they be standing next to each other, instead of the woman leading the man to the edge of the cliff? Just a question, don’t shoot! lol

Now if only we can get the TV commercials right…last week I saw an HIV/AIDS awareness commercial on ETV. A girl took a pizza out of the oven without gloves and burned herself. The message was “wear a condom”. Let’s stop being silly and cut the euphemisims, yes?

    yes yes …

another nice AIDS billboard was with some couple hugging and dude checking out another girl that is passing by. The writing said something about not trusting your partner… or something similar.

and ye Miki Fashion billboard is nice too. Some girl pulling some dude by the tie.

and Ambassador men’s clothing has nice stuff too.. mainly because of the bigger that life-size eye catching dude.

but the most “ahhhh!” to a billboard goes to the one with Haile Gebresellasie running, near Ambassador Theatre, and the writing saying “YiCHalal!”

I saw it a while back and it might not be there now, but et yo pia yeseleTenechiw yanie new:: (!!!) *looks away*

Ha ha, I do feel like that that Haile is somewhat egocentric…. but big ups to him…
