learnt to talk,
learnt to walk,
learnt to read n' write,
and argue n' fight.
with some talk-backs
along the way
felt I knew everything
and doubted all you say.
expectations were thick
really thick in the air,
to better yourself with a paper
was only right and fair.
So the paper seemed
the end of the journey
and key to freedom
Now it's time to be great
prepare for the stardom.
There comes a rude-awakening
after the Oscar-nights
when the Oscar doesn't win
the competition fights.
Refection steps in
to the highlights of life
so used to the show business
you forget what made
you feel alive.
After years of hard work
To get the paper,
how do I justify
being a quitter.
I found myself in Paris
so they say
reality bites
by the day.
Find one I love
and hold on to it,
an endless journey
to find a good fit.
till then,
the tides of the ocean
shall keep me company
the waves will keep me afloat
although shaky
till I find a ship
a party to join
too bad I couldn't
just flip a coin.
I never really understand any poetry,.. I mean I have read many, maybe even written one of two over the year, but in reality, i can never really understand it…
I understand poetic litrature, I understand rhythm, I understand the intent…
But i dont really understand poetry, that is written…To me its so ambigous, why not come out and say it.. say it straight out..
anyways rahwina .. I do understand this one… the title says it all… to me its about the frustrations of life and trying to find out what you really want.. am I right?

Rowina, I’m not great at understanding poetry and I did have to read it several times slowly but I love it. You know what it reminds me of is this painting I saw at the National Gallery of Art in DC, man oh man it was incredible. It was called the ‘Voyage of life’ by T Cole. It’s about the child-youth-adult-oldage phases of life. When I read your poetry that is the first thing that came to my mind. If you haven’t already seen it and if you live in the DC area or get a chance to visit check it out. I think you’ll find it very interesting. Poetry is a like a painting because you try to interpret the work or understand the mind of the artist. Love it!
